Malibu Knights – Self Titled

without comments

I went up to Edmonton this weekend to shoot my friends opening for Kid Rock, and Bon Jovi at Commonwealth Stadium!! I heard the stadium seats 60,000 people at capacity, which makes it the biggest venue they’ve ever played at, and the biggest venue I’ve ever shot at. The photos are just being reviewed by the guys, and will be online soon. In the mean time, here is a few photos of their new album, with some of my photos. Take a listen to their music on itunes!

Phao Album

without comments

After 2+ years the Phao album has finally arrived. I started designing the cover art when I was still living in Kelowna! I used some finger paints Santa left me in my stocking, and threw paint around on the garage floor until I got some of the results seen in the album. What I am most stoked about is the two page spread in the middle of the album booklet of the full band on white seamless! Lots of work to accomplish that!

Epic Rock Adventure with Malibu Knights

with 2 comments

A long over due post of my epic rock adventure with Malibu Knights!! My last shoot with them was lots of fog and smoke, this year we stepped it up a notch. We ran to Rona to get some crafty materials, and made giant sized dynamite sticks! Quite the scenario that played out… Check their music out here.

Thanks to everyone that made the shoot possible!

Buying Original Photography in Las Vegas.

without comments

We found this great record store just off the strip on Sahara Ave.

I was on the search for some Zepplin, maybe some Rage Against the Machine. My girlfriend Sabrina was on a hunt for anything MJ. The first thing we see when we walk into this place, is a display case full of MJ stuff. The most unique item was this photo I bought for her for $18.

Turns out this photo was from Michael Jackson’s music video for “Say Say Say” with Paul McCartney in 1983!
The photo shows the final scene in the music video where Michael, Paul, and Lisa McCartney are running to jump in the back of a truck. The music video was filmed in Santa Ynez Valley, California which is about 6-8 hours away from Las Vegas. The guy at the record store said someone brought the photo to their store with hopes they could find a good home for it. We don’t really know how long the photo sat in their store, but the photo definitely found the best home possible with Sabrina and I. She loves MJ, I love unique original music photography. Win Win!

Dan Harden

Here is a shot of my friend Dan Harden from Malibu Knights. The photo was taken during their band’s photo shoot a few months back. We were shooting on a sound stage, and stepped outside to grab some fresh air, and saw this intense pink sky.

Henotic Jason

without comments

Jason asked me last month to shoot a quick portrait of him for an article being published in Beatroute magazine. There was one catch, he had to be wearing his favorite hat! He said something along the lines of: “If people are having a bad day, I put this hat on, and it always makes them smile” Made me smile for sure! We did a few shots by the bar, and then a shot on the stage that was being prepped for that night. He loved all the goofy posed shots, but I liked this moment where I caught him with just a straight face, it was the only odd one out in the shoot.
